The other day I read this post over at Plugged in Finance about how he is investing in dividend reinvestment plans or DRIPS. DRIPS are something I’d heard a lot about in the past and I remember being interested in the concept but before I had time to really look into them and learn about them, I moved on to something else and pretty much forgot about them.
Well, that post by Finance Junkie caught my attention and so today I did a tiny bit of initial research while at work. In a few minutes of research I learned quite a bit but some of it was floating over my head and I just couldn’t really find out where to start. So I thought I would just shoot off a quick email to Finance Junkie and asked him. I was hoping to get a reply, but wasn’t expecting more than a few sentences and was assuming that it would probably be some info that I had already come across in my brief research.
The response I received was so much more. He kindly walked me through some basics and told me what I needed to get started which is what I was looking for. I was just blown away by the length and thoughtfulness of his email that I decided I would give him a big shout-out on the blog.
Head on over to Plugged in Finance and check out Finance Junkie and what he’s writing about.
As for DRIPS, now that I know a little bit more about them, I am considering investing with that method. I’ll still have to do a lot more research, but I have the ball rolling and will let you know what I decide to do.
Just wanted to say that’s another reason I love blogging because there really are real people behind these blogs and in most cases they are more than willing to help. So thanks again, Finance Junkie.

I’ve recently received a few emails about transitioning from a free blogging platform (Wordpress or Blogger) to a hosted site. This blog used to run over at Blogger, but I made the decision to buy the domain and host it myself. Specifically, I’ve been asked which website hosting company I decided to go with. There are so many option available that it can be a little overwhelming.
I went with BlueHost. The short story is that I knew nothing about having a website or web hosting but I just decided to dive right in and am glad I did. I first read about BlueHost at This Writer’s Wallet, but then I read a few reviews (both good and bad) and decided to give them a try.
It’s definitely been a learning process but learning about hosting and working on a website seems like a worthwhile cause in this day and age. I’m continuing to learn as I go, but so far I’ve been really happy with BlueHost.

That last post was my 100th. Back when I started this blog, I wasn’t quite sure I’d ever make it this far. I’m glad I have. Actually, I’ve got a renewed determination to write more and more on here as I still have a lot to say about my financial life. Money just touches so many points in our lives and find all of that so interesting. Thanks for being with me for the first hundred posts and I’m hoping you’ll stick around for the next hundred.
PS. In honor of both my first 100 posts and my renewed motivation in general, I’ve decided to attempt the 100 push up challenge.

I’ll be doing a bit of work on the blog this weekend. Not sure if it will screw anything up but just an fyi!

Hi Friends,
I still have lots to say. I’m still spending money. I’m still trying to save more. Every once in a while something awesome happens and I feel like blogging about it. However, I don’t think I’ve really been on a computer at home in over a week or two. I’m just busy and now I’m making excuses. August is coming to an end and I’m looking forward to being able to run the numbers, even though I know I spent a lot of money.
Tonight I’m leaving for the cabin for a nice 5-day weekend vacation fishing trip! No work tomorrow or Friday - woohoo! So I definitely won’t be posting anything over the next few days. Not that you were expecting I would be!
Everyone have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend!

When I haven’t blogged for a while and there is so much to catch up on. I hate that.
An awful lot has happened in the last week or so and I will try to summarize over the next few posts. I need to write about my job situation, my housing situation, a little bit about my personal life, and I still need to write about my July numbers before August comes to a close.
On a positive note, I’m home from work today and it looks like today is going to be a no spend day! I’ve actually had a bunch of them in August. The problem is the days I have spent money in August - I’ve spent A LOT of money!

Mostly because I haven’t been blogging as much as I’d like, but also because I’ve been spending money like it’s going out of style. Seriously. And tonight is just another night with a tiny blog post just proving to you all that I still exist. I realize I’ve promised about 10 times that I will start posting more frequently, but I’m done promising. It’s Summer and I’m busy having fun, so I will post when I feel like posting. Please don’t hold that against me. I do appreciate all of you that stop by and read!
