On Friday, I posted about my expected Halloween weekend plans.
Here’s what actually happened.
Friday: After work, I decided to get stop and get a haircut. $17 later I was leaving Great Clips with a pretty nice cut. I then headed home super excited to watch the latest episode of Glee on Hulu only to find out there wasn’t a new episode this week. Sad. Bird went to Happy Hour with her work friends so I just sat around at home and played on the internet. When Bird eventually came home, we ate dinner and watched 3 episodes of Buffy! It’s so fun to get back into it! We are going to be so sad when we are all done. Only one more season to go.
Saturday: Slept in a little bit and then headed out and dropped off Bird at her 5k. I was going to run a few errands, but decided to stick around since it was Halloween and all the runners were dressed up in costumes. I was looking for some inspiration but didn’t get much. It was, however, a really fun race to watch. A bit chilly, but all good. After the race, we went out for brunch with some of Bird’s friends that ran with her. We had extremely slow service and we were starving. When the food eventually came, it was very good. Brunch = $17 with tip.
After that it was back home to grab stuff for our Halloween party that night which we were actually co-hosting at my old house with my former roommate. We stopped off at a thrift store for more costume inspiration and I finally decided to dress as a UPS delivery guy. Brown pants (but you know I cut them off to make them almost-inappropriate short shorts, just like the real UPS guys), brown shirt, brown hat = $11.11. After the thrift store it was off to Target for groceries. Note to self and all of you, don’t wait until Halloween to buy Halloween candy. Target was completely sold out, yet we still managed to spend $50 on misc. stuff. Off to another grocery store to buy candy=$25.
We finally got to the house and started decorating for the party. We ordered a pizza as we decorated. Bird paid for that one and I’m not sure how much it was. Probably about $20. We had a very successful Halloween party and then it was home to bed and to reset our clocks!
You may have noticed that we did not make it to Macy’s which was one of the major planned events for the weekend. We just ran out of time and will have to get there some night this week as the sale ends on the 7th.
Sunday: Sunday was like the perfect lazy day. We slept in. We woke up and made muffins. I worked on blogging while Bird worked on our wedding photos. Around 1 pm, we headed for Grandpa’s surprise 80th birthday party. It was really fun–so much family! The party was held at my Grandpa’s church and from there we headed over to their house. It was there that we revealed his birthday present–a new 32 inch flat screen TV to replace their old 19 inch model from the 80s. Then the family all gathered around and watched the Vikings beat the packers! It was pretty close to a no-spend day, but we did stop and get gas on the way to the party. $24.75 at $2.63 per gallon.
There’s my weekend recap! How was your Halloween weekend?
