Travel Plans

by Forest on May 19, 2010

A few weeks ago I created a Places to Go page on the blog.  Kind of a bucket list for the rest of my life.  I’ve been spending my time lately mapping out our near-term future travel plans.

7/10 – Chicago long weekend for a friend’s wedding
8/10 – Fishing trip at the cabin
9/10 – LONDON! Bird’s 30th b-day/our first anniversary
9/10 – North Carolina (Bird’s homecoming)
11/10 – Long weekend up North
2/11 – Myrtle Beach to visit Bird’s grandparents
3/11 – Spring Break – Maybe Florida?
5/11 – NYC for my 30th birthday

So there you have it….a pretty exciting year coming up, especially when you throw in trips to friend’s cabins or or local camping trips, etc.  And of course, these are just plans and plans always change…so we’ll wait and see what happens!

The travel fund is sitting at just about $1,500 right now, so I better get out and sell some more books!!!

So jealous of your multiple trips coming up. I’ve got one, but it s big one! The rest are just local camping trips, but I’m excited. How are you planning on saving for these trips, other than selling books? Got any good deals?

That’s a good question! How am I going to save this money? I’ll sell books and use my blogging income. We have a travel category in the budget so maybe we’ll increase that. More than likely, we will end up using some of our general savings. We’re cutting costs where we can…sharing a hotel room in Chicago, staying with friends in NYC, staying with relatives in SC, etc. We might get a deal on London flights because Bird’s dad works for the airlines. I’m also using sites like kayak and travelzoo to look for good deals!

Thanks for the comment. Where are you going on your big trip?

Heading to China to visit my dad, who lives there. Pretty much one epic trip for the summer then camping and doing staycations.
