Thai Food and Barbara Kingsolver

Posted by Forest on November 11, 2009

Tonight after work, Bird and I are heading over to St. Paul to meet up with some friends for dinner at our favorite little hole-in-the-wall thai place.  After dinner, we are going to see Barbara Kingsolver talk about her new book.  Up until about a month ago, I had never read any of her books, but then I read The Poisonwood Bible and loved it.  Lately, there have been several articles popping up in local papers about her as she promotes her new book and her talk.  These articles have been really great and quite inspiring.  She seems like a fascinating lady and a great author.  I know Bird owns a bunch of her books, so I’m glad I won’t have to buy them because I’m really looking forward to reading more of her–and I’m really looking forward to hearing her speak tonight.

And did I mention Bird just got an acceptance letter to grad school on Monday?  She wants to be a writer/teacher so I know she is really excited to see Kingsolver tonight as well.  I’m hoping she will find it very inspirational.

Tickets to Barbara:  $40 ($20 each)    Dinner:  $35

Look for a future post about Bird going to grad school and how that will effect our finances!

Congrats to Bird for the acceptance! Will she be going to grad school full-time?

Thanks! She’s going to start out going part-time with just one class this first semester. Then we’ll re-evaluate and see where it goes from there.
