As promised, I went to my parent’s house after work tonight and picked up the van and did my taxes.
Everything went very smooth. I used TaxCut as I have in previous years and it’s a pretty slick little program.
So what’s the verdict? Drum roll, please!
I’m getting money back! And a lot more than I thought I was going to…
I’m getting right around $2,500 from the feds and another $500 or so from the state. I’m over the moon excited about this.
The federal filing was free because TaxCut gave me an e-coupon but the state filing cost me $19.95 (but hey, that’s 40 more cc miles!)
All in all, a pretty good night.

Dang that’s awesome! Doesn’t it feel like you won the lottery or something? It’s so easy to forget that this money you’ve actually earned. Congrats!
Congrats! I always get some money back each year and this extra boost of cash is why I haven’t changed my withholdings. It would be so depressing to have to pay!
