Last night I got my Memorial Day Weekend started off right! Bird and I attended a BBQ/Bonfire at a friend’s house. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious and the turnout was great. There were a few people there that I haven’t seen in months and we all had a lot of fun catching up and playing bocce ball. We talked with a few friends about honeymoon planning and three places kept coming up: Costa Rica, Greece, and Thailand. All three are on our top 5 list.
The big surprise of the night was a surprise guest. One of my college roommates, B, showed up at the party. I haven’t seen him in over a year….because he lives in Chicago! He’s in town for a bachelor party this weekend so he came to the BBQ and it was really fun to reconnect with him.
The rest of the weekend is going to be spent at a friend’s cabin in Wisconsin. Bird and I will be heading up there in a couple of hours and we’ll stay through Monday morning. I’ve never been to this person’s cabin before but Bird tells me cabin time at this cabin is all about reading and scrabble. We’re a bunch of nerds, but that sounds awesome. Later in June, I’ll be going to my cabin where we are all about fishing. That will be awesome too.
This morning, as soon as I finish writing this I will start packing and I need to decide what books to bring. I think I am going to bring Purple Cow and Ace of Spies. I just finished Thunderstruck
earlier this week and I really enjoyed it.
I’m sure there will also be plenty of wedding talk this weekend as well. We really need to talk about our registry and to start making some decisions about this honeymoon.
I hope you all have a great holiday weekend!
And also, a big THANK YOU to all the men and women that have served our country. We can’t say thank you enough.
