Last week, an email came out from the CEO addressing the fact that the economy is tough, competition is tight, the company’s not doing as well as they’d like…blah, blah, blah. Bottom line – expect layoffs.
Not exactly a real morale booster. Obviously when something like that comes out, rumors start flying. (Pretty much exactly like they did in the The Office). Oh, and remember that I’ve only worked here for about three months now, so I’m WAY at the bottom of the longevity totem pole. But it’s pretty much out of my hands, so there’s no point in worrying about it. I’ll just continue to work hard, get my projects done and do the best I can.
Well, the rumors continued through today and the word was that we would find out for sure by July 4th. And then, towards the end of the day a new rumor was going around that it had come down from on high that our office was safe. Still just a rumor, but from a fairly reliable source.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

That’s kind of freaky. I guess now would be a good time to look around, huh?
Horrible confession: I have this one crazy, probably wrong dream that we would have layoffs that would force me to move on to another job. I just know myself and that it’ll be hard to leave otherwise. A layoff would make the decision for me. (My apologies to anyone reading this who really did get laid off; I know it’s horrible)
Yeah, I know what you mean. When I told a friend about this and they were like, are you nervous at all? and I said, not really and they were like, do you maybe WANT to get laid off? And I thought, it might not be the worst thing. Which I agree, is a horrible thought, but it would force my hand.
