Did you know that here in Minnesota, it is supposed to SNOW tomorrow? It’s October. C’mon! Next year if the Twins make the playoffs, we’ll be playing outdoor baseball in the snow.
Anyway, that being said, maybe we’ll have a real long crappy winter this year. If so, there is never a better time to head south than in January and that’s just what Bird and I will be doing.
One of her college friends is getting married in Florida over the MLK Day long weekend. Hotel and rental car arrangements are still being worked out, but I bought our plane tickets yesterday off of Orbitz. They were about $290 a piece. Total bill was $578.42. Add to that 3 nights in a hotel and a rental car for 3 days and this is going to be quite a costly little weekend. I’m going to really ramp up the bookselling after taking the whole month of September off to try and offset some of these costs. Also, I should be able to get one of the plane tickets paid for with my credit card miles, thanks to all the wedding and honeymoon expenses that I used our card for.
And even though it’s going to be really expensive, it’ll still be worth it to get away from the cold MN winter and to enjoy the wedding festivities and the long weekend in Florida.
