I came across this article the other day; can’t remember where I first saw it. It turns out that just last weekend, my dad was telling the family about a woman at his work that has begun to ride a scooter on her 20-mile commute and she’s averaging 84 miles per gallon!

Someone said something like, yeah, but she’s probably just puttering along. However, the woman told my dad that she could outrun almost any car on the road! Now that’s some scooter!

Ironically, I all of a sudden started seeing scooter commuters on my way to work this week. While I’m jealous of their mpg, I’m not jealous of the idea of sitting on what still seems sort of like a glorified toy to me (no offense!) while cruising down the freeway.

For me personally, I can see where it makes sense to have a scooter in the city but I can’t wrap my head around the idea of a long commute by scooter.

Anybody out there have a scooter?
