Along with downgrading my phone plan, I also finally got around to doing our taxes last weekend.

I used TurboTax online and it took me probably 1-1.5 hours with all the wading through my papers I had to do along with looking up statements and whatnot online.  Bird and I filed jointly and long story short, we’re getting a federal refund of $1,633 and a state refund of $166.  The cost for TurboTax and filing (about $50) will come out of that.

I know that most PF bloggers preach that you shouldn’t get a refund because you’re giving the government an interest-free loan, but I don’t really care.  But I like getting the refund every year!

So what are we going to do with all that moolah?  It’s going in our travel fund!

This morning there was a deposit in my checking account for $546 from the State of Minnesota.

I was really surprised that I got it back so fast after just filing the other night.

I’m going to use this money to buy a bike, so I left it in my checking account.
