Does anyone else feel like they are always blogging one day too late? I don’t know how other bloggers can keep their blogs up with their hectic lives. Anyway, here it is Friday evening and I’m finally getting around to writing about what happened on Thursday.
After work, Bird and I headed to the mall to look into renting tuxes. This was our second attempt after a terrible first experience a few weeks ago. This place was better, but this specific location didn’t have exactly what we were looking for so we didn’t seal the deal, but I’m sure we will back there in a few weeks to do so. That will be nice once that is out of the way.
I had a terrible day at work yesterday, so instead of going home and making dinner, I wanted to eat at the food court in the mall and just veg when we got home. We grabbed a quick bite to eat at the food court and came very close to scoring a free meal, but in the end it cost me $10.
Instead of vegging out upon arriving home, we decided to go for a walk. We walked along the creek that runs through my neighborhood.

We weren’t the only ones that thought it was a great night for a walk as there were a lot of people out on the paths. As we walked, we talked about wedding stuff and that’s where it got a little ugly. In the end, we ended up getting into a fight over wedding planning. She thinks I’m not doing enough, I think she’s trying to do too much. You know, a classic wedding planning fight. Well, it seems kind of like a classic fight to me. It wasn’t much fun. We actually ended up walking home separately. Sad.
But don’t fret, I won’t leave you with such a sad story so let me tell you a feel good story. In the middle of our walk, I looked over at the creek (which is really low this year) and saw this:

This little northern pike was laying on all these rocks obviously struggling but very much still alive. I couldn’t really believe it. First of all, I didn’t even know the creek had fish in it. Then to see one laying out of the water was kind of weird and sad. I don’t know how he got there, I’m assuming he was maybe trying to make it upstream and got stranded, but who really knows. Dear readers, do you know what I did? I saved him. I gently lifted him up and placed him in the water and worked him back and forth until his strength returned and he swam away. For good measure, I made sure that I pointed him downstream towards the lake. I hope he made it.
So that’s one uplifting story. Another good story is that Bird and I have now made up after the fight. Wedding planning can be fun but I’m at the point where I’m ready for the day to just be here so we can get on with the marriage!
